Uses of Mifegest – Combipack of Mifepristone

Mifegest is typically used during the early part of a woman’s pregnancy to cause an abortion. It can be used up to week 10, the first five weeks after the start of your last period. Mifegest blocks a natural substance (progesterone) that is needed for your pregnancy to continue. It usually is combined with another medicine called misoprostol. Mifepristone tablets is not allowed if you have an ectopic pregnancy, which is when a child develops outside of the womb. In this case, mifepristone may lead to rupture and excessive bleeding that could be life threatening.

Who can take mifepristone/misoprostol?

Mifepristone and misoprostol are contraindicated in patients who have had a previous uterine stroke. They’re also not recommended for use in women who are more than 9 weeks pregnant, or who have a history of hemorrhage or excessive bleeding following the use of mifepristone or misoprostol.
